On 16 August 2025, the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel ballroom shimmered in gold, its dazzling ceiling lights casting a warm glow over tables draped in black linen. Nearly 900 guests—a sea of familiar faces and new friends—filled the space with anticipation and laughter. This was no ordinary dinner. It was a night of connection, celebration, and pride as the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Shanghai, China brought the overseas Singaporean community in China together to mark a historic milestone: Singapore’s 60th National Day (SG60).
2025年8月16日，浦东香格里拉大酒店宴会厅内金辉流转。璀璨的穹顶灯光倾泻而下，为铺着黑色亚麻桌布、点缀红色装饰的餐桌镀上一层温晕。近900位宾客——既有熟稔的老友，也有新识的伙伴——齐聚于此，欢声笑语中满是期待。这绝非一场普通晚宴，而是一场联结情谊、共庆荣光的盛会。中国新加坡商会·上海（SingCham Shanghai）携社群同仁相聚，共同见证新加坡建国60周年（SG60）这一历史性里程碑。
The theme, “Stronger by Tradition, Bolder by Vision,” captured the spirit of the evening—a harmonious balance of honoring our heritage while embracing the future. The gala was graced by distinguished Guests-of-Honour includes Mr. Peter Tan, Singapore’s Ambassador to China, and Mr. Loh Tuck Keat, Singapore’s Consul-General in Shanghai. Their presence underscored the significance of this gathering for both Singaporeans abroad and friends of Singapore in China.
本次晚宴主题“传统赋予力量 愿景引领未来”，精准诠释了当晚的精神内核——在致敬传承与拥抱未来之间，寻得完美平衡。新加坡驻中华人⺠共和国大使陈海泉先生（Mr. Peter Tan）、新加坡驻沪总领事罗德杰先生（Mr. Loh Tuck Keat）作为尊贵主宾莅临现场，为晚宴增添荣光。两位主宾的出席，彰显出这场盛会对海外新加坡社群及中国新加坡友好人士的非凡意义。
A Warm Welcome and Playful Surprises温情迎宾，惊喜迭现
The festivities began even before the program officially started. Guests were greeted by tantalizing aromas of kopi, kaya toast, kueh lapis, pandan cake, and other nostalgic Singaporean favorites. The culinary adventure didn’tstop here—there was bak kwa ice cream courtesy of Bee Cheng Hiang (wah, shiok ah!) and a cheeky Singapore Sling Berrin Special by Berrin Natural Wine, which had guests happily toasting even before the first speech.
庆典的氛围在正式流程开启前便已拉满。 kopi（咖啡）、kaya toast（咖椰吐司）、kueh lapis（千层糕）、pandan cake（斑斓蛋糕）等经典新加坡美食的诱人香气萦绕全场，唤醒宾客们的怀旧记忆。一口下去，瞬间回到狮城街头。而这场美食之旅不止于传统——美珍香带来的肉干冰淇淋（哇，shiok ah！！）、别出心裁的新加坡司令鸡尾酒，宾客们举杯畅饮，欢乐在第一场致辞之前就已点燃。
At the interactive photo booth, laughter and creativity flowed as attendees wrote well wishes for Singapore and Shanghai on bright cards, hanging them on an illuminated wall. Guests could also snap a photo and have it instantly printed on a replica newspaper from 1965, the very year Singapore gained independence—a poignant, almost magical touch that let everyone bring home a piece of history.

Each table carried a mystery: a single peach, seemingly random, resting in the center. It turned out to be a cleverly disguised cold-diffusing candle gifted by the Beijing Art Museum. The twist? Only one guest per table—the lucky diner with an SG60 sticker under their plate—got to take it home. The reveal drew gasps and laughter, setting the tone for an evening full of surprises (and a bit of kaypoh energy as everyone checked who got the peach).
每张餐桌中央都藏着一个小谜题：一颗看似随意摆放的桃子。原来，这是北京艺术博物馆馈赠的创意冷扩香蜡烛，以桃子造型巧妙伪装。而惊喜不止于此：每桌仅有一位幸运宾客（其餐盘下贴有SG60贴纸）可将这份礼物带回家。揭晓瞬间，现场惊呼与笑声交织，为这个充满意外的夜晚奠定了轻松氛围（大家纷纷探头查看“幸运儿”，尽显几分“爱凑热闹”的亲切感）。
Setting the Stage仪式启幕，温情致辞
At 6:20 pm, the event officially began with the dignified entrance of our Guests-of-Honour , followed by a video medley, the pledge, and the National Anthem.
傍晚6时20分，晚宴正式拉开帷幕。贵宾入场仪式庄重大气，随后播放的主题视频集锦、宣誓环节与国歌奏响，让现场氛围愈发庄重。
The video sequence paid tribute to Singapore’s nation-building journey, including a powerful clip of Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s 1965 press conference announcing Singapore’s separation from Malaysia. The audience fell into hushed silence as the late Prime Minister paused in deep reflection, unable to hold back tears on national television. That emotional moment—his collapse under the weight of sacrifice and dedication—served as a poignant reminder of the resilience and courage that laid the foundation for today’s Singapore.
视频片段回顾了新加坡的国家建设历程，其中包含1965年李光耀先生宣布新加坡脱离马来西亚的记者会上的震撼画面。当这位已故总理在镜头前陷入沉思，并在全国观众面前潸然泪下时，全场顿时一片肃静。那个饱含牺牲与奉献的沉重瞬间，成为新加坡今日繁荣根基的坚韧与勇气的生动见证。
What followed was a cultural feast where tradition met technology.随后上演的是一场传统与科技交融的文化盛宴。
Ambassador Mr. Peter Tan and Mr. William Chang led a group of Singaporeans to perform a medley of classic Chinese-Singaporean film and television hits such as "新鸳鸯蝴蝶梦" , “五脚基”、 "小李飞刀". The guests couldn't help but sing along, with voices rising and falling in succession, filling the air with warmth.

Following by a pledge and singing the national anthem together, the crowd then welcomed Mr. William Chang, Chairman of SingCham Shanghai, who delivered his welcome address with warmth and gratitude.

Known for his modest style, Mr Peter surprised many by showcasing a humorous streak—setting the ballroom alight with laughter as he launched into a parody of the iconic Shanghai tune Shanghai Bund《上海滩》 swapping out its original lyrics for a love letter to Singaporean food:

Music, Dance, and a Touch of the Future艺彩纷呈，预见未来
A group of Singaporean youths brought energy to the stage with their dance performance—this time joined by a robot, a futuristic guest made possible by sponsor Profound Sky. The robot’s solo drew astonished gasps and enthusiastic cheers. Some even joked, “Eh, next year robot also can join lucky draw or not?”
新加坡青年舞蹈团带来活力四射的表演，更有一位“未来感嘉宾”惊喜加盟——由赞助商深空纪元（Profound Sky）提供的机器人与舞者同台共舞。机器人的 solo 表演引发全场惊叹与欢呼，有宾客打趣道：“哎，明年机器人能不能也参加抽奖呀？”
Next came Hossan Leong—one of Singapore’s most beloved entertainers, often dubbed the country’s “funny man.” Known for his sharp wit, musical comedy, and long career as a television personality and theatre actor, Hossan did not disappoint. His blend of stand-up comedy, song, and cheeky banter transformed the ballroom into a stage buzzing with energy. Whether crooning local classics like “Bunga Sayang” or playfully switching gears to “La Vie en Rose,” Hossan had the audience laughing, clapping, and singing along.

The climax of the gala was undoubtedly when Singapore Ambassador Mr. Peter Tan and SingCham Shanghai Chairman Mr William Chang took the stage together once again to perform "Singapore's Xinyao 2025 medley”. Their brilliant performance not only vividly showcased the cultural charm of Singapore but also ignited the audience's boundless aspirations and enthusiasm for the nation's future. Their act earned thunderous applause and cheers from all the guests, elevating the atmosphere of the gala to its peak.

No Singaporean event is complete without a lucky draw.Across three rounds, excitement built with each prize announcement—from Musang King durians to a massive 5000ml CASA SOL Special Edition Cabernet Sauvignon, to getaway stays in Frasers Suite Shanghai and Naked Hill Forest in Nanjing. The stakes climbed higher until the grand prize was unveiled: a staggering 88,888 KrisFlyer miles from Singapore Airlines.

Mr. William Chang took to the stage to thank the volunteers and organizing team, whose behind-the-scenes dedication made the evening seamless. From registration to stage management—was handled with care.
